Dopo il suo debutto con\u00a0Mr. Wrong<\/em> Gaylene Preston tenta di riprodurre le ambientazioni, le atmosfere e i risvolti oscuri che carattterizzano il successo di un thriller senza riuscire assolutamente nel suo intento.\u00a0Perfect Strangers<\/em>, di cui la Preston ha firmato sceneggiatura e regia, pur riprendendo la vicenda di una donna minacciata da un uomo misterioso, gi\u00e0 sviluppata nella sua opera d’esordio, tenta di acquisire indipendenza narrativa grazie ad una carrelata di sentimenti contrastanti che si alternano confusamente e disordinatamente tanto da ottenere solamente una drammatica diluizione di pathos ed aspettativa. Sam Neil, di cui \u00e8 sicuramente facile ricordare interpretazioni pi\u00f9 significative come\u00a0Lezioni di piano<\/em>o\u00a0Caccia a Ottobre Rosso<\/em>, si adagia troppo facilmente nella parte di un innamorato ed evidentemenete sofferente di solitudine, mentre Rachael Blake (Lantana<\/em>) d\u00e0 vita a mutamenti interiori cos\u00ec rapidi ed immediati da risultare incomprensibili e drammaticamente superficiali per un film che ha l’ambizione di imporsi come thriller psicologico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amore, odio, passione e follia si alternano e si sovrappongono senza lasciare la minima traccia emozionle del proprio passaggio. Incomprensibile ed oscuro nei suoi tentativi di evoluzione,\u00a0Perfect Stranger<\/em>\u00a0risulta assolutamente prevedibile nella successione della vicenda senza mai sfiorare la possibilit\u00e0 di intrappolare lo spettatore nel gioco della suspance. Nonostante siano pi\u00f9 che evidenti i riferimenti alla solitudine e alla incapacit\u00e0 di amare e di lasciarsi andare a sentimenti ben espressi dalla Blake il film non riesce a raggiungere la sottigliezza e l’invisibilit\u00e0 formale utile per raggiungere e colpire. La sensazione che si ottiene \u00e8 che Gaylene Preston abbia cercato di trovare un compromesso tra il percepire ed il mettere in scena, non avendo fino in fondo il coraggio di abbandonare la forma. Il risultato \u00e8 un film capace di accennare e non di approfondire, confuso e superficiale nei momenti di maggior interesse e all’interno del quale l’unica vera fonte di forza distruttiva e rivoluzionaria \u00e8 quella di un tempestoso e grigio mare australiano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
