Un percorso di &#8220;crescita&#8221; e trasformazione che, dall&#8217;esile corpo di un tredicenne insicuro ed esterefatto, si propaga sino ad abbracciare, coinvolgere ed avvolgere una nazione nella sua caotica prospettiva sociale e culturale. La spontanea invadenza contadina si contrappone all&#8217;asettica raffinatezza del successo. Il paesaggio di una lontana provincia &#8220;addormentato&#8221; nei colori e nelle strutture di un mondo avvolto da una tenue patina di antichit\u00e0 contro il caotico vorticare di voci e luci di una realt\u00e0 stravolta e trascinata in un veloce processo di evoluzione\/involuzione. Ed ancora l&#8217;estenuante ricerca del successo come unico appiglio per decretare la propria effettiva esistenza ed il doloroso, solitario percorso per riappropriarsi di una dignit\u00e0 dimenticata. Contrasti, rapporti e convivenze impossibili per loro stessa natura che il giovane Xiao Chun, con lo stupore e la purezza delle sue insicurezze e la melodica consolazione di un violino, sembra racchiudere e riassumere attraverso un&#8217;inusuale armonia. Una narrazione che all&#8217;immagine affianca, unisce, fino ad intrecciare ansiosamente un percorso musicale con il mero compito di divenire trascinamento e coinvolgimento emotivo nei confronti di una vicenda che, incomprensibilmente, troppo si &#8220;sporca&#8221; e si &#8220;crogiola&#8221; in ambientazioni da melodramma. Dopo aver raggiunto il successo internazionale con\u00a0<em>Addio mia concubina\u00a0<\/em>Chen Kaige ci consegna un&#8217;opera artisticamente apprezzabile per l&#8217;eleganza essenziale della sua fotografia e per il deciso tratto caratteriale concesso ad ognuno dei suoi personaggi. Delimita uno spazio recitativo distribuito e diretto con delicata precisione, imponendo allo svolgimento della vicenda un andamento riflessivo senza cadere nell&#8217;estenuante, contemplativa lentezza di alcune pellicole orientali. Eppure si lascia conquistare, volontariamente, dalla tentazione di impermeare l&#8217;intera prospettiva con accenti di &#8220;patetico&#8221; intimismo. Dimentico di rappresentare nella sua interezza uno stimolante ed interessante scorcio postrivoluzionario, preferisce abbandonarsi alla consolatoria, quanto improbabile scelta di una salvifica redenzione dai &#8220;peccati&#8221; del mondo moderno.
