Contro la confusione strutturale del film di Sax, in precario equilibrio tra i due generi e che ricade nel confronto fisico pur non avendo la struttura necessaria a farlo, un film come\u00a0<em>HOW<\/em>\u00a0(<em>House of Wax<\/em>\u00a0\u00e8 il titolo originale de\u00a0<em>La maschera di cera<\/em>) \u00e8 onesto dall&#8217;inizio alla fine, non solo non ha fini innovativi del genere horror splatter, ma ne \u00e8 anche un vivido e ben riuscito tributo. La garanzia \u00e8 l&#8217;ormai noto marchio di fabbrica della Dark Castle Entertainment, societ\u00e0 di produzione cinematografica fondata da Joel Silver &#8211; vero e proprio mito del cinema commerciale con alle spalle successi come\u00a0<em>Die Hard<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Arma Letale<\/em>\u00a0e\u00a0<em>Predator<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; e l&#8217;ancora pi\u00f9 noto Robert Zemeckis di\u00a0<em>Ritorno al futuro.\u00a0<\/em>Questa florida societ\u00e0 di produzione si era gi\u00e0 messa in luce fin dagli esordi con\u00a0<em>Il mistero della casa sulla collina<\/em>\u00a0del 1999, mettendo in chiaro fin da subito le sue intenzioni: recuperare e riproporre in chiave moderna i grandi classici dell&#8217;horror anni &#8217;50 di William Castle, definito dalla critica &#8220;l&#8217;Hitchcock dei poveri&#8221;, ma divenuto un vero e proprio punto di riferimento. Non si esenta dal discorso\u00a0<em>La maschera di cera<\/em>, ormai al suo terzo remake dopo il film del &#8217;33 diretto da Michael Curtiz &#8211; a sua volta ispirato alla piece di Charles S. Belden &#8211; e interpretato da Lionel Atwill e quello del 1953 firmato Andr\u00e9 De Toth e interpretato dal grande Vincent Price, altra costante di riferimento della Dark Castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La storia \u00e8 la stessa: un gruppo di ragazzi in viaggio per seguire la squadra del cuore \u00e8 costretta a fermarsi nella solita sperduta localit\u00e0 neanche segnata sulle carte geografiche. Qui vive uno scultore folle, maestro nel plasmare figure in cera, ma che ha la alquanto sgradevole abitudine di utilizzare come struttura base delle sue opere esseri umani a volte morti, a volte ancora in vita e paralizzati da speciali farmaci. Il film \u00e8 una fusione di elementi di precedenti di successo: l&#8217;inizio alla\u00a0<em>Blair Witch Project<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; uno dei ragazzi ha la passione per le riprese con la sua digitale &#8211; lascia il posto alle atmosfere in puro stile\u00a0<em>Texas Chainsaw Massacre<\/em>, con tanto di famiglia di pazzi. In effetti il personaggio Vincent non pu\u00f2 non richiamare alla mente il Leatherface del classico di Tobe Hooper. Squadra che vince non si cambia quindi: \u00e8 per questo che cloni horror come\u00a0<em>Wrong Turn<\/em>,\u00a0<em>La casa dei 1000 corpi<\/em>\u00a0e questo\u00a0<em>House of Wax<\/em>, continuano ad avere il loro successo. L&#8217;hanno capito quelli della Dark Castle anche per il fatto che con una storia interessante alle spalle e gli effetti speciali di oggi, si pu\u00f2 dar vita a prodotti di un certo rilievo. Ne\u00a0<em>La maschera di cera<\/em>\u00a0vi sono scene di sicuro effetto, come quella della deflagrazione finale della citt\u00e0 ad opera del fuoco, elemento che scoprir\u00e0 le sculture di cera dei loro macabri scheletri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last but non least il gruppo di interpreti di questo tributo per appassionati, il fior fiore della Hollywood di domani, con il Chad Michael Murray di\u00a0<em>Dawson&#8217;s Creek<\/em>, Elisha Cuthbert gi\u00e0 vista nel ruolo della figlia di Kiefer Sutherland nel serial\u00a0<em>24<\/em>, Brian van Holt di\u00a0<em>Sex &amp; the City<\/em>\u00a0e\u00a0<em>Black Hawk Down<\/em>\u00a0e naturalmente lei, Paris Hilton, l&#8217;ereditiera a nove zeri. Ebbene s\u00ec, anche l&#8217;America ha la sua Lecciso, figlia di Rick e Kathy Hilton, proprietari della nota catena alberghiera, divenuta famosa a livello mondiale grazie ad un video porno girato nel novembre 2003 e fatto girare su Internet. Da allora sono seguti reality show, dischi, copertine e quant&#8217;altro. Lei, negazione del talento artistico nella forma pi\u00f9 assoluta ha raccolto ogni forma d&#8217;arte e l&#8217;ha uniformata verso il basso. Persino la sua presenza tuttavia non riesce a rovinare questo divertente horror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">di Alessio
