Lo dimostra il fatto che questo sacro fuoco li porta ad andare in terre lontane a regalar loro la libert\u00e0 senza che nessuno glielo abbia mai chiesto, scoprendosi una mattina invasori piuttosto che paladini. Tutto questo soprattutto considerando il fatto che ci sono tanti americani che in patria vivono in cattivit\u00e0, a causa della discutibile struttura sociale, della mancanza di welfare e dello stato di alienazione in cui sono ridotte le classi meno abbienti. Harvey Pekar era uno di questi sfortunati derelitti, capace per\u00f2 di raccontare attraverso le sue umane miserie l&#8217;America sotto un altro punto di vista, quello dei paria che per arrivare a fine mese sono costretti a mille rinunce, facendo avvizzire la loro parte pi\u00f9 umana, dimenticando cosa vogliano dire generosit\u00e0, altruismo, bont\u00e0, amore.\u00a0<em>American Splendor<\/em>\u00a0\u00e8 la cronaca di un piccolo grande sogno americano, raccontato con grande intelligenza cinematografica da Robert Pulcini e Shari Sprinter Barman, attraverso le parole dello stesso Pekar e grazie a un&#8217;interpretazione straordinaria di Paul Giamatti, caratterista a cui viene finalmente data la possibilit\u00e0 di dimostrare tutta la sua classe di attore. Una storia tanto incredibile da non sembrare neanche possibile, eppure terribilmente reale, uno spaccato crudele della societ\u00e0 americana e del desiderio di sovversione di una nazione che vive profonde contraddizioni. Un&#8217;opera,\u00a0<em>American Splendor<\/em>, che si pu\u00f2 affiancare per importanza a\u00a0<em>Bowling a Columbine<\/em>\u00a0di Michael Moore. Entrambi questi film, infatti, sono i migliori esempi della controcultura a stelle e strisce, manifesti del dissenso di una parte, speriamo sostanziosa, di un popolo ancora troppo giovane per capire
